During the winter, I usually paint with watercolor. I enjoy painting from life and often, I set up still life scenes using objects around the house. The pewter teapot had to be polished beforehand, because it was so tarnished.
For this painting, I created a careful drawing before I started the painting. As many water-colorist know, watercolor is very unforgiving. A careful drawing helps me see the values and shapes and it makes the process a bit easier (if there is such a thing with watercolor:-).
