The original watercolor is of two welcoming adirondack chairs and  was painted with layered, transparent, brush strokes in an impressionistic style. The composition moves you from the partially shaded chairs that contrast with the background flowers to the sunlit yellow-green foreground. When I painted this, I imagined enjoying the hollyhocks while relaxing in the warm shade of summer.

  • The Adirondack chair is my favorite outdoor chair. I like the style and they are so inviting. This painting was created from a photo taken when my family visited the 40 Mile Point Lighthouse on Lake Huron while in northern Michigan. We were surprised how nice the grounds and living quarters were and I wanted to relax in the chairs while enjoying the view.
